I had a lovely sunny break in Ireland last weekend for Mother's Day. Got to practice some yoga outside with my furry little pal, Coco, nearby!
I start my yoga teacher training on April 2nd so this was a nice chance to visit home before my head is deep in study.
Taking a break from city life always recharges me and leaves me feeling so much more happy and energised. The ironic thing was, I had been viewing this trip as something nice to benefit others - seeing my mum for Mother's Day etc. - and hadn't really thought about how much I needed a break.
I had felt slight stress creeping up on me in London and almost didn't want to fly home - trains, planes and more things to rush for. As soon as I landed in Dublin I felt that a weight had been lifted. My shoulders were away from my ears and I felt less agitated. Was I really that stressed without realising?
The weather at home was beautiful. It was months since I felt sun on my skin and it made me start to really wonder whether I should live in a warmer climate someday.
Walks on the beach and smelling sea air completely lifted my spirit and I felt so calm all weekend. Eating home cooked food, catching up with family and being around my little animals helped too (my cat is 21!).
It's made me realise that I need to check in with myself a bit more and take more breaks outside of London. Being by the sea or in the countryside is often all you need to feel recharged.
What do you do to destress and reconnect with yourself?
